An interesting story.
I really liked Virginia. She is trying to make a better life for herself unfortunately she takes the criminal route to accomplish this. She is smart but also a criminal with a conscience doing the right thing when information about one of her accomplices comes to light that she can not condone. She starts a relationship with Marshall with the wrong motives but that changes when she gets to know him and care for him.
Now Marshall I found very difficult to like as character but it does make for drama in a story when you have such a contradictory personality. He comes off all about ME. A cop that doesn't always follow the rules but thinks he is the best at his job always seeking a promotion. He also has some serious anger and entitlement issues. I never quite believed the love he declares for Virginia until the very end when he does what you would never expect a lifetime police officer to do.
Overall an interesting story with lots of action and intrigue. Voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader's copy of this book.

She is on the run, this is the last one, she isn't being greedy she needs to get away from this place, go far away and live finally. But that was before she ends up at a bar sulking a bit because the two guys she is in with for these jobs just told her that they need to do another one. UGH! The last one was too close for comfort. In walks a very handsome man, and Virginia just knows this is going to be the end of her. She tries to get away without him noticing, but he did notice her and now it is on.
He is having the longest day ever. He is woken up by his partner and he is next to someone he can't remember and he can't remember what happened. Marshall now done with this day, and decides to do the one thing that helps him, drink. He spots this gorgeous one trying to leave, so he calls her out. Little did he know that she was going to be the best and the worst thing that has happened to him.
He is a cop, she is a bank robber. There is no stopping the spark between them. She does not want anything to do with Marshall. He is all about getting with Virginia. She runs hot and cold, but Virginia decides to take advantage of their time together. She starts spending time with him, and they hook up. She leaves before he wakes up. Just like her is all Marshall thinks. She seems to call the shots, but he craves her like his next breath. Virginia is enjoying still having some control, even though she really is running scared all the time around him. There are a few twists that keep these two and all people involved on the go, in the most exciting and interesting ways.
Then one of the two men get caught, and will only speak with Marshall. He talks and gives the name of the other guy but will NOT give Virginia up. Seeds get planted in Marshall's head by his partner. They go and get the other guy, based off of an anonymous letter sent to Marshall at work. He has no idea it was Virginia who sent it. Now there is more twists that come about. No one could see that Marshall says those 3 words to Virginia in the heat of the moment, funny thing is he totally means them. She says them back, and truthfully means them as well.
Virginia can't live this lie anymore. She feels that if they are going to be serious about and with each other, no secrets, no lies. So she tells him, of course this goes over like a lead balloon. He walks away from her angry and extremely hurt. She is leaving by the docks when jerko partner shows up. Well it just so happens that Marshall catches on to this and goes down to the docks too. Marshall sees the hurtful way his partner is treating HIS Vi (as he commonly calls her) and he will not allow it anymore. Marshall shouts to his partner, and Virginia looks at him. He is pissed and not going to let her be hurt, then there is an interesting development between the two guys, and spoiler alert....Marshall and Virginia leave together.
Their life changes, he is no longer a police officer, she is no longer a bank robber on the run. They are both running and restarting but together. Things for them have started coming together. They get a very enjoyable happy ending. So good!!!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Kara Hart is an amazing writer and this is more proof of that. I couldn't put it down. This is a definite must read. This book is exciting, thrilling, action, sexy steamy sex, with dirty talking and character building.
The two main characters have hot steamy sex and a relationship that grow into more as they spent time together.
Marshall is a cop looking for three bank robbers and he is pretty good at his job. He is 35 years old with a drinking problem and beds different women every night. He has a partner (Adam) who envies him in every way.
Virginia (Vi) is one of the bank robbers that Marshall is looking for. She had a hard life and just wants out. Start a new life away from Texas. One night two run into each other at a bar she is trying to leave but Marshall won't have none of that. He is very determined to have her stay. Any way they eventually hook up and things change for both of them. Will Virginia tell Marshall she's the girl he's looking for? And when and if she does what will Marshall do? And Adam what is his rake on all of this? Inquiring minds want to know. In order to find out what happens you'll need to grab a copy of this book. Enjoy happy reading 📚
This was a pretty good book. It does have a couple slow parts but also has some action. It also has criminals that have morals & will not turn on each other for their help in the robberies.
Marshall is a cop trying to find out who has robbed the most recent bank. Victoria is one of the one of the criminals who robbed the bank. The three of them went separate ways and are going to meet up later & go to Europe. While she is hiding out for a while in a bar she sees Marshall walk in. Victoria gets up to leave & he starts to hit on her. She decides to use his attraction to her as an advantage. Victoria claims she is getting information from Marshall on the robbery so they can get away. The group have to do another job to get more money for the people who are going to help them get out of the country. This final job is when things go bad. While Marshall & Victoria spend more time together they start to fall in love which is the last thing either of the thought possible. Victoria thinks Marshall is too good for her because she is a criminal all & he's a cop. She doesn't want to hurt him but figures she has to in the end. What will Marshall do when he finds out Victoria lied to him & she is the female they're looking for? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

The characters are wonderful and I loved seeing how the story would turn out. I couldn't put it down. This is a definite must read.
